West Africa Fresh This Week.

The West African music scene never slows down. This week we have a mixture of tracks from Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire. From established rappers to fresh faces trying to push themselves further. Inspirational collabs, double releases and controversial albums.

Phyno & Lojay – Bom Bom (Oct 29, 2026)

Phyno invites Lojay to join him on this track. Here they combine the harshness of rap and melodic elements to create ‘Bom Bom.’. The lyrics are simple and focus on attraction and nighttime. Phyno switches between Igbo and pidgin English to keep the track flowing, whilst Lojay adds his distinctive falsetto to the choruses. A straightforward party track.

Seyi Vibez – SWAGUU (Sep 18, 2026)

A 14 track album, Seyi Vibez is definitely trying to target the bigger international market here. He uses more English lyrics, smoother compositions and even collaborates with Quavo. Opinions are divided on this release, some people believe it is a necessary step forwards, however critics argue he has lost his uniqueness by taking away his Fuji/Apala roots. Regardless, this has been the talk of the week.

Victony & Summer Walker – SLICK (Remix) (Oct 15, 2026)

Victony passes his track onto Summer Walker. Her signature R&B style brings a new feel to the track. Whilst it retains the Afropop base, her verse gives the track a crossover R&B feel. If you enjoyed the original track you will love this version, it is more laid back. (Don Toliver is included on this remix.)

Yarden & Dxtiny – SFD (SWEET FANTA DIALLO) (Oct 30, 2026)

This track comes from Yarden’s debut album ANGEL. This collab with Dxtiny is worth mentioning. The track name plays a word game. It begins as ‘SDF (So Damn Fine)’ before flipping it to ‘SFD (Sweet Fanta Diallo)’. This has given the track a fun and playful feel throughout.

TAR1Q – Gold & Silver (Oct 30, 2026)

A short track under 3 minutes long from TAR1Q. The track has a catchy melody and is backed by Afrobeats. TAR1Q has a clean voice. If you haven’t heard of TAR1Q before this is a good starting point.

Reekado Banks & Tml Vibez – Sisi (Oct 29, 2026)

A collab between two artists from different generations. Reekado Banks is a mid generation melodic Afrobeats artist, whilst Tml Vibez is an up and coming street pop artist. The track contrasts the two styles. Reekado Banks has a smooth singing style, whilst Tml Vibez adds a raw street vibe with his verse. The track was reported to have premiered at Zlatan’s wedding.

Runda & HYCE – Many Men (Oct 30, 2026)

This collab with HYCE comes from Runda’s EP Okafor’s Law. Since his debut album in 2025 Runda has had a consistent output. This track continues this trend and focuses on melody. HYCE has added a new element to the track.
